  • CLC's Annual Awards Banquet will be Friday, May 15, 2009, 5:30 p.m., at the Hilton Chicago. Frank M. Clark, Chairman and CEO of ComEd, will be receiving the prestigious Cardinal Bernardin Award. Bryan Cave LLP will be the Charles J. O’Laughlin Memorial Award Recipient and the Clinic’s Pro Bono Award will be bestowed upon McDermott Will & Emery LLP.   • Jeff Whitehead, Supervisory Attorney for CLC's Legal Advocates for Seniors and People with Disabilities Program, was recently honored as the Better Business Bureau's Volunteer of the Year.  Jeff volunteered on more than 90 arbitrations for the Bureau.
  • The Chicago Environmental Law Clinic recently had the EPA accept its Title VI Civil Rights Complaint for a tire burning facility in Ford Heights, which is Chicago's poorest suburb and overwhelmingly African American.  There have only been three civil rights cases ever brought in Illinois based on environmental issues--all three cases have come from the Environmental Law Clinic.
